Formentera unveils "Aula del Futur"

foto 2023iii aula futur BToday the Formentera teachers' resource centre (CEP) has presented the Classroom of the Future (Aula del Futur), a project aimed at shaping the values of primary and secondary pupils from across the island.

According to Ana Juan, president of the Consell de Formentera, "before the pandemic, the Office of Sport launched the Aula del Futur with the CEP as part of the Placing Values in Sport [Posam valors a l'esport] programme, and today it is at last complete". President Juan affirmed, "Now we want local students, teachers and parents to take advantage of this space to work on values intersectionally".

For her part, Alejandra Ferrer, vice president and education councillor, shared her satisfaction with this new initiative that "will allow teachers, students and families to learn actively, and harness new technologies to update how we access knowledge".

The Aula del Futur is a space where islanders can use innovative methodologies to work on values in a direct and motivating way. The space will promote dynamics of respect, dialogue, tolerance, decision making and teamwork. In addition, the students themselves will help to empower society with values like empathy, cooperation, gender equality, coexistence and more.

Users of the multifunctional space will be able to make recordings to various ends: to foment physical, playful and participatory practices. Inter-generational gatherings at the space will seek, among other things, to promote cooperative activities and games and stimulate self-improvement and the spirit of tackling challenges. Moreover, the classroom is equipped with digital educational technology to help students in competency building.

Digital transformation
In parallel, the Balearic Government will provide the five schools with 61 digital screens (one for every classroom), 69 laptops and 9 document cameras to assist the digital transformation. Advisory teachers and teachers attended today's presentation, as did Paula Ferrer, sports councillor; Amanda Fernández, general director of early childhood, innovation and educational community; Yolanda Martínez, head of the educational information technology service, and Carme Jaume, head of the language normalisation and training service.

Through the Posam valors a l'esport programme, the Consell de Formentera has provided funding in the amount of €12,000.
